Veterinary Science Courses and Colleges in Kerala

The Veterinary treats all kinds of animals from the common dog, cat and bird to large farm animals like cattle, horse, sheep and swine. Clinical diagnosis of disease, administration of medication, timely vaccination to prevent disease, advising on the health and diet of animals, conducting scientific breeding etc. are some areas of activity of the veterinarian. The Vet may also involve in animal research in order to control spread of diseases transmitted through animals.

Job Market of Veterinary Courses:

Expert Veterinary can enter State and Central government departments related to Animal Husbandry. They can also find employment in veterinary hospitals, and clinics, veterinary colleges, dairy farms, poultry farms, zoological gardens, wildlife parks, research facilities etc

Admission Programme:

The basic qualification for commencing study of Veterinary Science is the successful completion of +2/ equivalent in science with the subjects Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

The Bachelor's programme in Veterinary Science/Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry (B.V.Sc/B.VSc & AH) is a 51/2 year course including internship. Admission procedure varies from university to university.

 All India level entrance examination is conducted by the Indian Council for Agricultural Research (ICAR) for admission to courses in Veterinary Science.

The announcement is made in January-February and the examination conducted in May. The successful candidates fill up 15% of the total seats in State Agricultural Universities and Central Agricultural University and 100% of seats in NDRI, Karnal (Haryana).
