What is Veterinary Science ?
Veterinary Science is the science of diagnosing, treating and curing the diseases in birds and animals. The subject broadly covers the study of animal physiology, treatment and prevention of diseases among animals. The basic principles of this specialized branch of study are quite similar to that of human medical sciences.
What is Job Profile of a Veterinarian ?
The job profile of a veterinarian involves not only taking care of animal health but also includes scientific breeding and handling of livestock. Besides giving treatment, he perform surgery, prevent spreading of diseases in animals by administering timely vaccination and medicines and give advice on care of pets and farm animals.

How to Become a Veterinarian

Kerala Agricultural University
KAV or Kerala Agricultural University has 4 departments: agriculture, agricultural engineering and technology, veterinary and animal sciences, and fisheries science and technology. KAV also has eight constituent colleges within its six campuses, 23 research centres and three colleges of agriculture, one each at Trivandrum, Thrissur and Pilicode-Nileshwar .
The university offers seven Graduate programmes in Agriculture, Forestry, Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Dairy Science and Technology, Fisheries, and Agricultural Engineering and Technology and nine Post-graduate programmes including Masters Degree such as Agriculture, Agricultural Statistics, Forestry, Horticulture, Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Fisheries and Agricultural Engineering and Technology.
