Qualification:
First Class Bachelors degree in any discipline and First Class BLISc degree. Those who have completed their fulltime BLISc during 2008/2009 and not undergone any internship/ apprenticeship training only need to apply.
Desirable : Knowledge of computer application is desirable.

Digital Library Trainee @ IIITMK: an Overview IIITM-K
Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management-Kerala (IIITM-K) located in the Technopark campus, Thiruvananthapuram is a premier educational institution established by the Government of Kerala in 2000. The institute offers two-year Postgraduate Diploma programme in Information Technology (PGDIT) for B.Tech / BE / MCA / MSc (Computer Science, IT or Electronics) graduates. IIITMK Digital Library
Digital library is the premier Information service node of the Institute. Digital Library has the credit of using in-house developed advance web
based Information Services using Free and Open Source Software. The
'Mu-Dil' Multimedia Digital Library has more than 1200 hrs of streaming
video lectures of Class lectures, Seminars, Workshops etc. Library also has a collection 100% digital collection of theses and reports.
Library'. IIITM-K hosts country’s largest free/Open Source Software
Library with more than 12,000 software products. Digital Library division has developed a non-commercial E-journals Gateway system. The'E-Patrika Newspaper Portal' provides access to more than 200 online
newspapers published from various parts of the country. Digital Library
division has been experimenting on GenIsisWeb Technology, Wink, ABCD etc and developed several Digital Library, WebOPAC,e-Journals Gateway, Image gallery, web portals, online tutorials etc. IIITM-K Library helps libraries in developing their Digital Libraries, Library Automation and Modernisation etc. IIITM-K Library is also extending consultancy service, organises training programmes, and workshops for the information professionals in the above and related areas.
IIITMK Library is an initial member in Indian National Digital Library in Engineering, Science & Technology Consortium, set up by the Govt of India. IIITM-K Library is one of the few Libraries in India using Web2.0 Applications for Information Services. Library has a credit of introducing Online Library Information System (OLIS) and Multimedia Digital Library using GenisisWeb Technology. Digital Library has good collection of electronic resources.
Digital Library is collaborating with DRTC, INFLIBNET, INDEST and other agencies. Institute Librarian is representing Asia Pacific in the
International Coordination Committee of ISIS (ICCI) and actively involved in the application of Free & Open Source Library Automation Software ABCD in the region.
About Digital Library Trainee
This internship provides apt opportunities for trainees to learn and work
with latest technologies, develop communication skills, organisation
skills and motivate themselves to become next generation Information
professionals. The Internship programme aim to equip the fresh LIS
graduates to work in a highly technical environment.
Trainees will be assisting the Library staff in library operations including
Content management, metadata analysis, Video Abstracting, Acquisition,Technical Processing, cataloguing, Indexing, Subject analysis, circulation etc. They will be exposed to the cutting edge technologies in Digital Library, Multimedia services, Content management, e-learning systems, e-journal aggregators, Library automation, web design, Blogs, Wikis etc.
Having gained practical experience in working in such an environment, they will be equipped to work in a high-tech library set up with attractive salary.
Duration of the Internship
The Internship will be for a maximum period of One Year. Strictly subject to the Performance of the Trainee.
Stipend for the trainees
Trainees will be provided with a consolidated stipend of Rs. 6,000 only per month.
Accommodation
Institutedoes not offer any accommodation for the trainees. However, plenty of private hostels/ paying guest accommodation etc are available nearby, both for ladies and gents at reasonable rate.

One of the trainees has been selected for a 3 months International Training Programme (STIMULATE-9) at Vrije Universiteit Brussel, Belgium with Scholarship from VLIR, Belgium.
