RIT presents  Mechnova '09

 

Mechnova '09 is organized by the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Govt.Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology (RIT), Kottayam, Kerala on January 14, 15and 16 of 2009. It is a mix of technical events and exhibition season of RIT to celebrate the spirit of human knowledge and wisdom. The technical competitions vary over the entire spectra of science and technology.

History

Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology, named after the Prime Minister Sri.Rajiv Gandhi, owned and run by the Government of Kerala started functioning on 3rd October 1991. At the time of formation, it was envisaged to
transform the institute into a centre of postgraduate and studies. The college is affiliated to Mahatma Gandhi University and is recognized by AICTE. College is accredited by NBA since 2007.

To be a centre of technological excellence for the serviceof the society. Mission
To impart professional education endowed with human values to the younger generation so as to transform them to be competent and committed engineers capable of providing solutions to the global challenges in deploying technology
for the service of humanity.

Previous MECHNOVA

Mechanical engineering association of RIT has organized technical sessions from 1998 onwards. A brief description of programs are stated below

•        1998 :
  Mechnova 1998 was organized at college with programmes including technical symposiums and stage activities (estimated budget – 1Lakh )

•          2000 :
  Mechnova 2000 organized at college with National level technical seminar and other technical competitions ( estimated budget-1.5Lakh)

•          2002 :
  Mechnova 2002 organized at college with National level technical seminar and other activities (estimated budget 1.5Lakh)

•          2006 :
  Mechnova 2006 organized at Kottayam town and college (two venues)with exhibitions from leading Institutes and Industries, Technical symposiums, Autoexpo and stage items with a budget of 3Lakh

Motor Enfete (Auto Expo)

   You will be left awestruck as you walk through the specially built pavilions showcasing vintage,imported and home automobiles. We have set for you an opportunity to learn the anatomy of machines on road.    If you are owners of modified bikes and cars, come place them in the pavilion and win the poll.You have at stake whooping prize money. The prizes are sponsored by TipTop Furniture,Kottakkal. There is separate competition for modified cars and bike

Experentia docet (Exhibitions)

    This is an all-new exhibition event, displaying the greatest feats of human workmanship and intellect.    There are two different streams in the exhibition:

Competition: the participating college has to bring their projects and it will be placed in the stalls/space at the venue. There is no limit to the number of projects from a college. Each college will be provided a particular stall. An experienced team of judges will choose the best stall.

Prize money:

1st: Rs 10,000

2nd : Rs 6,000

Rules :

•          one team from one college

•           5 Members per team

•          space/stall of 3*3meters will be provided to each team

Non competition: this is a display of models/pavilions and knowledge from leading organizations like ISRO, Indian Navy, ANERT, Science and Technology Museum, Medical college (kottayam).You will witness the latest breakthroughs in technology.

Avant garde (National level paper presentation)

    A confluence of great minds, this will provide a platform to present your innovation to be
vanguards of technology. This is a technical symposium providing opportunity to students of different engineering and management colleges to present their weird ideas.
