Kollam Techno Park - District IT Park in Kollam

Kollam techno park is inaugurated by Kerala chief minister V. S. Achuthanandan on 15th February at Kundara. It is located in 40 acres of prime land near scenic Ashtamudi Lake, with internationally based IT requirements. Former Indian cricket captain Krishnamachari Srikkanth was the guest at the inaugural.

Need of District Level IT Parks in Kerala

In last year the state government announced that IT level parks would be developed under private-public partnership model in the 14 districts of the state. In the first phase, IT parks would come up in Kollam, Alappuzha, Thrissur, Kannur and Kasaragod. Currently, IT companies operating in the state are based either at the Technopark campus here or in the Infopark campus in Kochi. The government would hold 51 percent stake in the district level parks and the rest will be with private and public companies, which would build the necessary infrastructure.

Kollam Techno Park  Project Details

The project when completed will have 2 million sft of built-up space and will provide employment to around 15,000 IT professionals. This structure is located at the top most point in the campus from where one will capture an enchanting view of the Ashtamudi lake. Kollam Technopark will also be the first IT park to have access through water transport. The first phase of the building will be operational from August 2011. The remaining land will be allotted to IT/ITeS companies and IT infrastructure developers as developed plots as per the master plan

The work on canal embankment entrusted to the Kerala Inland Navigation Department is also progressing at a fast pace along with other infrastructural development such as water supply and sewage treatment plant.
