INDIAN INSTITUTE OF ASTROPHYSICS offers training in Astrophysical research TRAINEE PROGRAMME .The Institute offers training in Astrophysical research and instrumentation to bright young and motivated candidates. Applications are invited for Trainee Programme-2009 from who are highly motivated to pursue their research career.
TRAINEE PROGRAMME-2009
The selected candidates will generally be placed at the field stations of IIA. The trainee programme is not a regular employment and does not entitle any privileges or benefits of regular employment at the Institute. It is only a temporary study programme for imparting training.

Candidates interested in applying for the above training programme should send a copy of their curriculum vitae / biodata, photograph along with copies of certificates to The Administrative Officer, Indian Institute of Astrophysics, 2nd Block, Koramangala, Bangalore – 560034 on or before 24th July 2009 superscribing ”Application for Research Trainee”.
Eleigiblity Criteria or Qualifications
First Class M.Sc / M.Phil (Physics /Astronomy / Astrophysics / Optical Sciences)
First Class BE/B.Tech (Information Technology, Computer Science, Electronics and Communication, Electrical, Instrumentation and Mechanical).

AGE LIMIT : Below 25 years
TRAINING PERIOD : Initially for a period of One Year & extendable for Second year
STIPEND : Rs.10000/- plus Admissible HRA

The Indian Institute of Astrophysics (IIA), Bangalore, is a premier national Institute in the country dedicated to research in Astronomy, Astrophysics and Allied Sciences & Tecnology. The Institute has field stations at Kavalur and Kodaikanal in Tamil Nadu, Gauribidanur & Hosakote in Karnataka, and Leh & Hanle in J&K. The Institute has embarked on a project to set up a modern large solar telescope at a suitable location in the country.
