Admission Requirements    

The candidates must have completed a valid and recognized Graduate degree program in any discipline and should have scored a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate. Age not more than 30 yrs. He or she should be of amicable nature, and should be willing to travel, meet people and work in a service and customer-oriented industry. Good communication and presentation skills, along with an excellent command of English language is a must.

Admission to the MBA programme is based on academic merit, MAT score (Management Aptitude Test Of AIMA),group discussion and personal interview. Programme Design and Curriculum:

The programme is of one-year duration. It comprises of about 400 hrs of contact classes. These classes comprise of a combination of online instructions in select cities and on-campus contact. The courses are divided into three modules. The first module comprises of foundation level courses in management while the next two modules focus on courses on concepts and skills and domain specific courses in management respectively:

Online instructions:

A major portion of the course will be conducted on the online, interactive, satellite based classrooms in various cities. Online classes will be conducted three days a week from 6:30 to 9:30 pm.
 

Campus visit opportunities:

Participants will get opportunity to visit IIM Indore campus once or twice for about 5 days each and will get to attend classes in campus as well as interact with faculty for clarification of their doubts. Pedagogy:

The downloaded application should be printed on A4 size paper and used. The filled in application forms may be submitted to the Registrar, Kerala Agricultural University, KAU P.O., Thrissur, Kerala - 680 656 along with application processing fee of Rs.750/- (Rupees Seven Hundred and Fifty only), (in the case of SC/ST candidates Rs.375/- (Rupees Three Hundred and Seventy Five only) by a Demand Draft drawn in favour of the Comptroller, Kerala Agricultural University, Vellanikkara payable at the State Bank of Travancore, KAU Campus Branch, Vellanikkara so as to reach on or before 30th June 2009 (before 4PM). No other mode of payment will be accepted under any circumstances.

A passport size photograph of the candidate bearing his/her signature should be affixed on the application and admit card(s) in the appropriate place.
Application from employed candidates should be routed through their Heads of Departments/employer/institution. Last date for receipt of filled in Application is 30th June 2009.

 Eligibility criteria for admissions

If instead of marks any letter grades or GPA are awarded (or any other form of evaluation), their equivalences in marks will be decided by BITS, Pilani- Dubai.
    * Since English is the medium of instruction at BPD, good proficiency in English is essential for admission. Hence candidates who have completed their qualifying examination from Non-English Medium Schools must have secured a TOEFL Score of 500 in paper based test or 61 in internet based test or have an IELTS Score of 5. If necessary, they will also be assessed by an institute-committee for English Comprehension.

Aggregate

: Aggregate is the total marks of all subjects in the Qualifying Examination, considered essential by the Board / University for passing the examination. The Aggregate must compulsorily contain the required subjects, namely, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. . The Candidate's position in the merit list will be based only on this aggregate marks secured by him/her.

 Scholarships and Fee Concessions

Scholarships

   1. Merit Scholarship

          * Students who have obtained 90% and above in the aggregate of the Qualifying Examination will be given a 20% concession in the first semester tuition fee as scholarship at the time of admission. This scholarship is limited to the first semester only.
          * Students who have obtained 80% and above in the aggregate of the Qualifying Examination will be given a 15% concession in the first semester tuition fee as scholarship at the time of admission. This scholarship is limited to the first semester only.
          * On obtaining a CGPA of 9.0 on a 10.0 scale in each semester, students will be eligible for a 20% concession in the tuition fee as scholarship for the following semester.

   2. Scholarship for Board Toppers

      Students who have secured top positions in 12th standard in their respective boards (UAE National General Secondary School Exam or CBSE-India or any other State National or International Boards) will be offered the following scholarship for the first semester.
          * First Rank holder: 100% of the tuition fee
          * Second Rank holder: 75% of the tuition fee
          * Third Rank holder: 50% of the tuition fee
      The above scholarship is limited to the first semester only. Relevant documents certifying the above must be enclosed along with the application form from competent authorities.

   3. Scholarship for Sports Excellence

          * Students who have participated and won medals in International championships will be eligible for 50% concession on the 1st semester tuition fee and students who have participated in the International Championships are eligible for 15% concession on the 1st semester tuition fee. This scholarship is limited to the first semester only.
          * Students who have participated and won medals in National tournaments are eligible for 20% concession on the 1st semester tuition fee and students who have participated in National Tournaments are eligible for 5% concession on the 1st semester tuition fee. This scholarship is limited to the first semester only.

   4. Merit-cum-Means Scholarship

      There will be a few merit-cum-means scholarships available to students. Those students who wish to apply to this must strictly adhere to the guidelines prescribed for the same which will be available from the Student Welfare Office. The amount and number of scholarships will be decided by a duly constituted committee. This scholarship is applicable to UAE students only.

Fee Concessions

   1. Special Concession for UAE Nationals: Students who are UAE Nationals and who meet the eligibility criteria of the institution will be offered full scholarship throughout the programme which shall include full waiver on tuition fee, hostel fee, transport fee and cost of books.
   2. Fee Concession in case of sudden bereavement of earning member of the family: The Institute will help by waiving off 100% tuition fee for a semester for those students who face financial hardships due to the sudden and untimely demise of the sole earning member of their family in that semester. A scholarship of upto 75% can be offered for the subsequent semesters on a case to case basis, depending on means and need and the overall performance/discipline of the student.
   3. Fee Concession for Physically Challenged Students: All students who are physically challenged, who secure admission satisfying the eligibility criteria of the institute will be eligible for 15% concession on the tuition fee throughout the programme subject to satisfactory academic performance in each semester.

      Relevant documents from an Authorized Medical Practitioner must be produced explaining the nature of physical handicap and certifying no bar for the student in pursuing an engineering programme due to the physical disability. The Admission to the institution and award of the scholarship will be done at the sole discretion of the Institute Authorities. Responsibility of providing any medical attention to the student in respect of his/her handicap during the course of his/her study entirely rests with the parent.

Eligibility

A bachelor degree in any subject of the University of Calicut or that of any other University recognized by the University of Calicut with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate (including languages). (OBC and SC/ST students are allowed relaxation as per rules ie. 5% relaxation for OBC and other eligible communities and a mere pass for SC/ST). Candidates awaiting their degree results may also apply. But they should produce their original degree mark lists before the last date for the registration of their first semester MBA examinations. However, original Plus Two/PDC mark list should be produced for  verification at the time of Personal Interview and Group Discussion.

Selection

Selection is based on Plus Two/Pre-degree marks and the scores obtained by the candidates in the entrance test (to be held during May 2009 at Calicut, Trichur, Ernakulam, Trivandrum and Kannur) Group discussion and Personal Interview. The University may cancel any of these entrance test centres if enough candidates do not opt for that centre for the test.

INTRODUCTION OF THE PROGRAMME


With the enactment of Persons with Disabilities Act 1995 it has became obligatory on the part of the central & State Government to provide for the various provisions laid under the Act for disabled population of the country. In addition to the above the necessary steps have to be taken by the State Govt. for disability prevention. In order to achieve the above and to implement the provisions of the Persons with Disabilities Act it is essential that the personnel belonging to the various sectors like – Health, Education, Vocational and Employment are involved in the policy, planning, training etc. are equipped with the knowledge regarding the provisions of the act and sensitised about disability prevention and rehabilitation of the disabled. It will be helpful for these personnel to implement the various levels of the personnel working under their control for the training programmes of the govt, So that their awareness regarding the disability prevention & rehabilitation is also enhanced.

The rapid advances in Medical Technology have successfully increased the survival of high risk babies but this adds on to number of babies who might end up with developmental delays and disabilities. Therefore, it is of utmost importance to focus on preventive aspects of disabilities. If a baby is born with or developing impairments or disability, there is a dire need to identify such infants with problems at the earliest and provide Rehabilitation services and enhance the development and the quality of life. Such Rehabilitation services early in life and development constitute the early intervention services.

This training programme will equip the learners on the prevention, promotion, assessment, early identification, timely intervention and rehabilitation for all types of disabilities. 


Objectives:

After undergoing this programme, the students will be able to: -

  • Explain the genesis of Disability, terminology’s used in the area of Disability Rehabilitation.
  • Identify and assess children, adults and elderly having physical, sensory or cognitive impairments or at risk.
  • Understand the rehabilitation methodology/strategies of persons with disabilities.
  • Undertake effective intervention to disability related issues for children/adults/elderly with disabilities.
  • Undertake medical intervention for disability related health issues.
  • Plan and implement prevention programmes for the persons with disabilities. 
  • Carry out parental & family counselling of persons with disabilities. 
  • Play leadership role in advocacy, community mobilisation and generating awareness about preventive measures, possible therapies and productive potentials of persons with disabilities by propagating the needs and rights of the disabilities.
  • Be aware of existing facilities and legislations available for persons with disabilities.
  • Refer the persons with disabilities for appropriate need based rehabilitation intervention.
  • Be aware of disability certification procedures. 

ELIGIBILITY 


  MBBS, or equivalent qualification in Ayurveda, Unani, Siddha and   Homoeopathic medicine preferably with two years relevant experience.


DURATION OF THE COURSE


One year Course with 6 contact Programmes (one in each area of disability) of 6 days duration each (Total 36 days of contact programme)/6 hours per day.


EVALUATION

  1. The internal assessment for practical will be done at the end of each contact programme, which carries 20 marks.
  2.  20 marks for the assignment work done.
  3. 60 marks for the theory paper for which the examination will be carried out at the end of the programme.
  4. TOTAL – 100 Marks per Paper.
  5. Minimum pass is 50% and the course is spread out for 3 years i.e. a student who cannot pass in the first attempt can give the exams and pass within three years.

Course – 7 Mental illnesses

PRACTICAL

  • Parameters of Identification of each Impairment
  • Assessment of each Impairment
  • Individualised Early Intervention Program for each impairment
  • Field visit to institutions in various areas of disabilities.
  • Parental, family and community sensitisation
  • Case presentation related to different disabilities
  • Case work in different disabilities.

Eligibility:

Admission Procedure

Step I

 The candidates who wish to join SICOMS should apply in the SICOMS application form which can either be downloaded from www.sicoms.info or obtained directly from SICOMS office. The application fee is Rs. 500/-.Those who download the application may send a demand draft for Rs. 500/- (drawn in favour of SADANAM INSTITUTE OF COMMERCE AND MANAGEMENT STUDIES payable at Palakkad, Kerala) along with the application form.

Step II

 You will be called for a group discussion and finally, a personal interview. For the final selection, points will be given to past performance, extra curricular activities, communication skills, work experience and performance in MAT/CAT.

Courses and Credits

First Year – I, II, III TRIMESTERS

During the first year a student will be required to do 74 credits spread over three terms. Summer Internship Program 6 weeks- 2 credits

Second Year Courses (Term IV)

Second year courses consists of two parts, Part I -core courses and Part II-electives. Core courses are compulsory and represent 30 credits and Electives represent 9 credits.

Cap stone Project(10 weeks)+ Presentation + Placement activities - 5credits

Term VI

18 Credits

Total Credits
