Admission to both PG and UG programmes for the academic year is now open.

Application has been invited by Amrita School of Biotechnology for the four prestigious programs offered by them at graduate and post graduate level. The application will be accepted till March 20. The interview procedure will take place on March 30 for the undergraduates and entrance exam will be held on 29 May for
the entry into the post graduate programs. The programs follow the credit and semester based scheme.

Undergraduates Programme offered

The programs are as follows:

  1. B.Sc. Biotechnology: 
    Six Semester ( 3 years)
  2. B.Sc. Microbiology : six
    Semester ( 3 years)

    The above mentioned programs are for the undergraduates. The minimum qualification for the program is an aggregate of 60% in biology, physics and chemistry in higher secondary examination.  The selection will be carried out on the basis of the marks obtained.

B. Sc. Biotechnology/ Microbiology : Three years (6 semesters)

Eligibility: A pass in higher secondary examination with a minimum of 60% aggregate in Biology, Physics and Chemistry from any State Board, CBSE or equivalent.

Post Graduate Programme offered

    1. M.Sc. Biotechnology: 
      Four Semester ( 2 years)
    2. M.Sc. Microbiology: Four
      Semester ( 2 years)
    3. M.Sc. Bioinformatics : Four
      Semester (2 years)

This program is meant for the post graduation level. Graduation in any disciplines of Science with a minimum of 60% is mandatory for the selection to the program. Students with degree in mathematics or from engineering and medical background can also apply. Admission will be carried out on basis of entrance score and the performance in the interview.

M. Sc. Biotechnology: Two years (4 semesters)

Eligibility: Graduate degree in any discipline of science including Mathematics, Engineering or Medicine with a minimum of 60% aggregate. Background in Biology is preferred.

M. Sc. Microbiology NEW: Two years (4 semesters)

Eligibility: Graduate degree in any discipline of science including Mathematics, Engineering or Medicine with a minimum of 60% aggregate. Background in Biology is preferred.

M. Sc. Bioinformatics: Two years (4 semesters)

Eligibility:
Graduate degree in any discipline of science including Mathematics, Engineering or Medicine with a minimum of 60% aggregate. Background in Mathematics or Computer Science is preferred.

The student can also apply for Ph.D.
programs such as Ph.D. in Biotechnology and Ph.D. in Bioinformatics.

Doctoral Programme in Biotechnology (
Ph.D.)

Essential Qualifications: Candidate must have qualified the CSIR/UGC NET for JRF.
Eligibility: Post Graduation in any discipline of Science, or Graduation or Post Graduation in Engineering or Medicine. Background in Biology is preferred.

Registration for the Admission

Applicationfee is Rs. 550/- which covers the cost of Application form and Brochure. Application fee once paid will not be refunded.

  • Admission Application Forms can be obtained through either of the following options:

    • Download from website:Candidates may download the application forms from our website.  You may either send or hand-deliver the completed  application form  along with a demand draft for Rs. 550/- (from any nationalized bank) drawn in favour of “Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham” payable at Kollam.

OR

    • Online Registration:Candidates may register online through our website.  Upon submitting the form, a confirmation slip will be obtained, which should be mailed along with a demand draft for Rs. 550/- (from any nationalized bank)drawn in favour of “Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham” payable at Kollam.

OR

    • Direct:
      Candidates may directly collect hard copies of the applications from the School of Biotechnology Admission Office in person by paying cash.

Please note M.Sc. Biotechnology candidates (thosewhohavedownloaded the application form from our website) have to fill out the Admit Card for the Entrance Examination and submit it along with the completed application form to the School.

 MPhil.

The M.Phil (Bio informatics) programme aims to prepare the students for understanding biological data at molecular level from both informational and biological perspective and impart conceptual, computational and practical skills to acquire, analyze, process or use the data to address significant problems in the field of Bio informatics, of both pure and applied nature. Known to be the first of its kind in the country, this one-year credit and semester programme is open to students from the streams of engineering, life sciences and computer sciences.

PhD. Vide University order No. Ac.E1.A.2.29772/05 dated 13/01/2006, the Centre for Bioinformatics has been recognized as a centre of research of the University of Kerala. Candidates from Science, Applied Sciences and Engineering & Technology can apply for part-time or full-time research at the center during December and June each year, according to the rules and regulations (Click Here for Regulations) of the University of Kerala in this regard.

The doctoral committee for the centre is as follows, taking into consideration the inter-disciplinary nature of the subject:
