Computer Application Project Home Anywhere

     Home Anywhere is software that permits remote access to you home pc from anywhere. It permits you to access files within your home pc without compromising security. It pays utmost importance to security, therefore does not provide a direct access from a public network. Rather it accesses you home pc files through a public mailing system. We use GMail SMTP/POP3/IMAP servers to achieve these feats. 

Firstly, we employ RSA encryption (digital signature) to verify the authenticity of the requester. Secondly, the response will always go to a default response id. So even if an intruder has the digital signature, he won’t be able to receive the requested file unless he knows the default response id and password.

          Home Anywhere also transcends the barrier of public email upload limit, by splitting huge files into smaller size and sending them as attachments. These attachments are downloaded at the receiving end and rebuild to form the actual file. Compression and encryption is employed for extra security to prevent access by hackers or sniffing programs. Home Anywhere therefore is a faster, secure, economic way to remotely access your home pc from any part of the world.

• Sends and receives file request and files to predefined email ids ensuring security.
• Transcends the file upload/attachment limitation by splitting and compressing the files and sending them as smaller attachments using multiple mails.
• Very economical and safe way to access your personal data remotely.
• Host computer does not require a static IP address because we do not make direct connection to the pc.

Disadvantages

• Variable net bandwidth ranging from slow dial up line to fast broadband line affected the whole design process. Mail normally opens at free POP3 and IMAP service provider restricted the project to use only fast Internet connection
• The user has to remember three id’s for the secure request and response files.
• Needs Restore application to be run in the remote system in the case of large files.

SCOPE OF FUTURE ENHANCEMENTS:

         The proposed system can have the capability of future development functions. We can add restore application that is if the file to be send is more than the default size, then the file is send in splitted form,in that case the remote system need remote software for merging that splitted file.In the proposed software we can add the provision for restore application.

The Home anywhere software that re developed was implemented and  Tested with real data and were found to be error free . Also it was found that the system worked successfully .
