AOP is a new technology for separating the crosscutting concerns into single units called aspects.An aspect is a code unit similar to a class in OOP that encapsulates pointcuts,advice and attributes.An advice is the additional code that is applied to existing model.Pointcut is the  term given to point of execution in the application at which crosscutting concerns need to be applied.Crosscutting concerns are concerns that cut across many modules in a program.An example is logging.Seperation of concerns entails breaking down a program into  distinct part that overlap in functionality as little as possible.
